Congratulations to Shane Dezee, (Warrior's Cove Shinbudo MMA
Red Belt & Competition Team Member), for winning his 3rd
straight Mixed Martial Arts fight by Triangle Choke (see
right picture) at the Twin Cities Throwdown April 8th!
Mr. Arnebeck, My last fight I thought was my best so
far...my opponent was about 6'4" so just hair taller than
me...and we both weighed 210 lbs...we touched gloves...and
he came in to punch and I shot under his arms...as I went
for the double leg...I could feel him attempting a
guillotine...I took him down and popped my head out. I
wanted use my strikes to set up openings...and it worked...I
hit him with multiple shots until his guard opened up...then
I took side mount and used some more strikes to set up my
pass to full mount. After securing full mount...I threw some
more punches and elbows/forearms...then I tried to attempt a
key-lock but my opponent defended it...then at the right
moment when he was on the defensive I drove him into the
cage so he could not use his hips as much...when I heard the
announcer say that there was 1 minute left in the round...I
knew it would be a good time to go for a submission...so I
went for a mount triangle because he was trying to sit up
and his head was coming up...I timed it perfect and as he
thought he was reversing me...I clamped it on tight...I
could then feel him try to pick me up...so I turned my hips
hard and grabbed his leg and then the ref stopped the fight.
Overall it was my best experience so far in the cage...and I
must have impressed some people because the promoter wants
me to fight for the vacant Light Heavyweight title in a
tournament in August...that will take some hard core
training with the possibility of two fights in one
night...but I am excited about the opportunity...thank you
for all your help in preparing me for all of my fights...it
has been an honor to learn under you.
