Shane Dezee - MMA Fight Twin Cities Throwdown - June 17th, 2006
Congratulations to Shane Dezee, Warrior's Cove Shinbudo MMA
Red Belt & Competition Team Member, Following are selected portions of his fight report: Mr. Arnebeck, I had another fight on Saturday June 17th at PrimeTime sports bar for Nick “The G.O.A.T.” Thompson’s promotion Twin Cities Throwdown. Again I had the unfortunate circumstance of an opponent change. My original opponent broke his hand in training. Yet it mattered not as I was probably in the best shape I have been in since I was in high school. Mostly due to the fact that I had been regularly attending the new kickboxing classes at the Burnsville Warriors Cove. This helped my cardio immensely, and helped me find breaking point physically and mentally. Watching Andrew plug through those classes really inspired me to do more for myself as far as “pushing it”. My opponent came into the fight with a 3-3-1 record and a background in Jiu-Jitsu. He trained at Dave Kujawski’s school, which is a Pat Miltech affiliate. We started out touching gloves in the center. I circled to the right and was waiting for him to engage, but he did not, so I hit him with right legged low roundhouse and waited for him to counter. He then tried a right haymaker and I shot under he sprawled well and tried an anaconda but I backed out and drove him into the cage where I picked him up and slammed him pretty hard. Then I landed in side mount and started to throw knees to the head and elbows. I took the mount, and stared to drive him into the cage while throwing some elbows and punches to his head and body. After I wound back a little to far to drop a big forearm, he went to his side and I briefly thought about swinging arm bar, but I felt him pulling his arm back and I did not want to give up position. So I hit him with some more knees and he then clamped down pretty good on me. After a few seconds of nothing happening, the ref restarted us on our feet. Again I waited for him to initiate and nothing. Then he came in with a low kick, I checked it and countered with a front kick. He then tried another haymaker and I ducked under again with a shot. This time no sprawl and I ended up in the half-guard. I passed to side and came with more knees and punches. Drove into the cage and took the mount. I started to land some good shots when I heard the ref say 15 seconds until the end of the round. This when I unloaded on him, I hit him with one elbow and a couple of good hooks to the head. With about 5 seconds left he tapped out to punches. I will admit that having you in the crowd, made me want to put on good performance and represent the Cove with honor and humbleness. Thank you for all of your support. Shane DeZee If you are interested in taking one or more classes at the Warrior's Cove, we suggest you visit during the class you are interested in.
