Just wanted to take a little time here to congratulate all who competed this weekend and the many who showed up to support the team.

Seth, congratulations man, you also win the Lebsock most improved grappler award for 2005.  You really did an amazing job, you went out there and showed great Jiu-Jitsu technique along with a "never say die" determination.  And your payoff 2nd place in a stacked division, all wins coming via submission victory.

Ziggy, what can I say, your a terror on the mat, you dominated your opponents.  You constantly went for the submission victory.  Ziggy you were final stopped in the finals of the gi by a fellow Rodrigo Vaghi student in a tough back and forth match.  A little background on your opponent, he just took third in the Relson U.S. Nationals, is a student of Rodrigo Vaghi's, a former wrestler, and has trained for twice as long as you.  You did awesome, you definitely have a bright future ahead of you in the grappling world.  Nice 2nd place finish.

Shane Dezee, you have really come along way in the last few months.  Your ground work looked great, and your stand up game was of course out-standing.  Awesome job on the 2nd place in the no-gi and the 3rd in the gi.

Eric Herman, represented in the supers.  Most of the guys in your division I've seen competing before, some for the last three years in the same division.  Awesome 3rd place finishes in both the gi and no-gi, in stacked divisions.

Dickie Goben, you player, just cause you got first place doesn't mean you can retire.  Awesome 1st place finish in the gi.  Your a grappling rock star.

Tom Mondragon, your first match was one of my favorites all day, you showed great technique and tenacity.  Great job on the 3rd place finish.

Juan Rivera, you had really tough matches and performed very well.  You ended up with a tough draw with a guy I watched tap a blue easy last year at a Carlson Gracie Jr. seminar.  You fought really well and in your 2nd match against that guy I think you were fighting the better fight until you decided to go for the submission.  Great attitude of always going for the kill, just didn't work out this time.  Great job!

Geoff Grcevich. You showed a ton of heart by competing with your hurt knee.  You grappled awesome but the clock proved to be toughest opponent.  You will be back and "badder then ever".  You have all the tools.

Joe Iallonardo (Joe-jitsu), great job man.  You competed with multiple bones in your hand broken, your a warrior.  You ran through your first opponent, nice RNC.  Your second opponent would have fallen to your sweet armbar if you would've had a good hand to grab with.  I know what its like to try an armbar with no grip.  Great job, and great show of heart.

Dustin Michel, awesome first match you totally controlled from the takedown to the RNC.  You did really awesome for your first tournament.  Especially being in a weight class, that's 20 lbs over your normal weight.

Thomas Mohr, I saved you for last because I was so impressed with your performance.  Awesome job on the 1st place finish in the gi.  Even more impressive was your triangle choke victory, in your first no gi match, awesome technique.  That guy was a seasoned grappler who out-weighed you by 20 lbs.  Great job!

Thanks for all who showed up to support the competitors. Dean Becker, Tom Bennett, Chris Daeger, Kelly Fitzgerald, David Hunter, Nate Howe, Josh Iverson, Jermiah Johnson, Jason Kappel, Chad McCormick, Connor McCormick, Darryl Peterson, Jason Ruona, Jim Stremel. Joe Ydstie and anyone I didn't mention by name, I apologize.

This tournament was a great experience for me.  I had a great time coaching and hanging out with all of you.  You guys all made me very proud to be a student of the Warrior's Cove.  I thought as a team we showed great "honor and discipline".  Again, I can't stress enough how the greatest victory to be had on Saturday was to just get out on the mat.  "The Greatest Victory is to Conquer Oneself" and if you competed on Saturday, that's exactly what you did that day.  Special Thanks to Mr. Arnebeck for creating such a great learning environment.

Also another thanks to Mr. Arnebeck for being so much tougher than any grappler I'll face in competition.  Sometimes it can be frustrating getting my butt kicked so bad, but it all pays off in the tournaments.

Thanks also to Rodrigo Vaghi and team, for putting me through hell.  Making this tournament feel like a walk in the park.
