By Scott Sjoquist:

The Warrior’s Cove had one Jr. Shin Budo member competing.  His name is Drake and he is a wrestler who cross trains in Shin Budo.  Out of 10 competitors he finished 3rd against some experienced BJJ guys and gals.  Bob Plaszcz also competed.  Bob showed up and had to drop a few pounds only to find out later the weight class was expanded to 205lbs.  Bob stepped up and went with the young bulls I’m guessing they were 25 to 35 years old.  The 46 year old Bob won his first match.   The second match aggravated his groin injury and he had to tap out.  I’m certain he would have won the match if not for the injury.  Bob ended up with a silver medal.  Josh competed in the blue belt division even though he is a white belt.  I think it was 165-175 pound weight class.  He annihilated his first opponent who was a blue belt.  The next match of Josh’s got a lot of attention.  I lost track of the time but it was probably a 15 minute match.  Josh controlled the match and kept going for submissions but his opponent was good at defending and tough. Josh went for a kimura and the guy had to tap.  A gold medal for a white belt in the blue belt division.  I was sitting next to Josh later in the day when the blue belt came over to Josh and said “I don’t feel right wearing this belt when you beat me so easily and you’re a white belt”  Josh was his typically self gave the guy a smile and said something that made everyone around laugh and made the blue belt feel better.  When Josh went up for his medal a lot of his peers and spectators cheered for him the most cheers all day.   I think everyone cheered because it was a real BJJ match; it was very technical and fun to watch.  I’m my opinion this match was a tie for best match of the day.
